Safe Bite Union is a student-led organization based in Pasadena, California, dedicated to making life easier for families with food allergies and dietary restrictions. We work to provide safe access to nutritious, allergen-friendly foods while raising awareness and advocating for a better quality of life for individuals living with food allergies.
Our mission is to ensure no family is deprived of the nutrition they deserve. We strive to build a more inclusive food distribution system: one bite at a time.
How Are We Different from Other Food Pantries?
For some families with severe food allergies, traditional food banks are often unsafe. Many rely on donated foods that may contain hidden allergens or risk cross-contamination, forcing families to choose between going hungry and risking a life-threatening reaction.
At Safe Bite Union, individuals with food allergies or dietary restrictions do not have to worry; we provide a pantry free of the top nine allergens, ensuring a safe and inclusive experience.
What We Do at Events
Compile
We gather all food donations for the event from our partner network.
Verify
Every item is double-checked to ensure all ingredients are free of the top nine allergens.
Certify
Approved items receive a Safe Bite Union sticker signifying they are top nine allergen-free.
Distribute
We track servings and stock shelves for all to enjoy, always encouraging consumers to read labels carefully.
